Case Study No1 - Wireless Infrastructure Case Study No2 -Education Bradford Case Study No3 -Nestle Case Study 3 Norcomm UK was selected by Nestle UK as the preferred installer for the design and installation of a new gigabit backbone infrastructure for its site in the North East. The contract was to carry out a detailed site survey to establish what the limitations were of the current infrastructure and to propose new links to ensure the continual growth of Nestle UK. Once the information had been collated, our design and estimation department went to work on a proposal document, outlining the required links and where resiliency could be achieved with minimal cost implications. It was agreed that 4No of the existing links would not be replaced due to the length of the cable and their ability to support gigabit transmissions of the short distance. A total of 9No new links within the factory were proposed and accepted. The new links were proposed using Nexans 8core 62.5/125µm GIGALite II multimode loose tube fibre optical cable. The routes were worked out with great emphasis on minimal disruption to production. Our contract manager ensured all required site works were fully acknowledged by Nestle UK and that they had adequate time to prepare the areas. All terminations were carried out using the AMP LightCrimp ST 62.5 XTC multimode glueless connector and AMP LightCrimp termination kits. All terminations were presented in 1U rack mounted AMP fibre panels, with up to 24 terminations per panel, for minimum rack usage. The testing was conducted using the Fluke DSP4000 series tester and multimode heads. All fibre were installed, terminated and commissioned well within the schedule agreed with Nestle UK project managers, with no disruption to the continued efficient running of the plant. Norcomm UK supplied almost 100No multimode fibre optical patch leads consisting of various lengths and termination connectors. |
